The breakfast was generous and delicious, with homemade marmalade and a heartwarming atmosphere. The room was beautifully decorated with an enormous bathroom that had plenty of space.
Access to the main road is tricky.

Food was fabulous and I have nothing but pleasant memories from this trip. I liked the hotel, its neat room and welcoming staff. The property was in an unbeatable location just next door to the Taxi, pubs and Alton Towers. Moreover, it was 3 km from Church of st Mary. The service was absolutely good.
Shame the bathroom was very small.

The breakfast here was a real highlight. Cooked to order and piping hot, it featured high-quality ingredients, made it delicious. The view from the back rooms offers a nice rural scenery.
Finding the hotel's entrance was tricky, hidden off a busy road with small signage. The room I stayed in was old-fashioned and rather cramped, especially given the awkward, narrow staircase. The room's proximity to the road resulted in constant traffic noise, made ventilation on a warm evening a tough choice between fresh air and quiet. The ensuite was notably tiny, with some ventilation issues leading to dampness. Overall cleanliness didn't meet expectations, and there were a few maintenance issues with broken fixtures that could use attention.

A good breakfast experience
Waking up to the aroma of a freshly cooked English breakfast was a treat. The hostess, Tina, provided a warm atmosphere and personalized service.
The only downside was the noise from the busy road, particularly in the early morning. A room facing the back might offer a quieter experience for light sleepers.

Rural views, Ample garden area, Unique architectural features
Traffic noise from the busy road interferes with sleep!!! Cleanliness issues, particularly in the bathrooms, need urgent attention!!! The staircase is dangerous to navigate with luggage!!! Dated room decor fails to impress!!!

We had a pure braw time! The room was smashing with lovely views over the fields and a braw big bathroom to boot. Breakfast was cracking too, right tasty! Just be wary of the busy road outside if you’re a light sleeper.

Solo traveler experience worth it
Tina was an amazing hostess, the kind that makes you feel right at home. The room was peaceful, especially with those fine views over the fields. Waking up to that was a real treat.
It wasn't exactly cheap, but the experience was more than worth what I paid.

Sensational Breakfasts and a Caring Hostess
The breakfasts were sensational, with a wide variety and even gluten-free options. Our room was comfortable and nicely decorated, with a spacious bathroom that added a touch of luxury to our stay. My only concern was some dampness in the room, but overall, I felt very welcomed and appreciated the personal touches throughout my visit.

It was a good pick for a couple of nights in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, with definitely value for money. The breakfast was excellent, perfectly cooked, and beautifully set up in a charming area. If you're a light sleeper, consider asking for a room at the back.

I stayed in a Double Room for 1 night, and it was quite comfy. The bathroom was spacious, great! There was a lovely view of the countryside from the back, and I appreciated the chocolates. The bed was cozy. The room was a bit cramped for my liking, and if you're sensitive to noise, it might not be the best choice since it's near a busy road.

Lilacs bed & breakfast has a lovely countryside view from the double room. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious and well-kept. Breakfast was fantastic, especially the variety of cereals and tasty coffee. The location is ideal for walking in the dales, and the parking in the backyard was convenient.
Just a mild critique. Getting onto the main road was a little tricky at times.
